Description
The Rectory, dated 1841, is a Grade II listed building located on Lydney Church Road. It features fine sandstone ashlar with coped gables and a plain tile roof. The building has a group of five diagonal stacks on the left side, with two on the left gable and three in the valley, all topped with individual heavy moulded cappings and set on simple plinths. This two-storey structure showcases a twin-gabled Tudor Gothic design.
The front has three windows, consisting of 2-light casements above 3-light casements, all with horizontal bars and 4-centre heads, and transoms on the ground floor, framed in wood with plain chamfer surrounds. The central Tudor doorway has a stopped drip and plain spandrels, featuring a glazed 19th-century door with side panels and a transom, accessed by three steps. The left gable displays a shield with a talbot, while the right gable features the date.
To the left is a long service wing, with a stair turret and a second entrance next to the external stack. The rear elevation mirrors the front, with a combination of 2-light windows above a blank section, and additional 2 and 3-light windows.
