Description
The barn located approximately 70 meters west of Macaroni Downs Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure dating from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century shelter shed. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features stone slate roofs. The barn consists of five bays and includes a porch, an outshut, and shelter sheds on the east side, with a porch to the west and a lofted outbuilding, currently used as a pigsty, to the south.
The barn has a lean-to porch on the east side, which is combined with an outshut to the right. There is a doorway with a plank door and timber lintel leading to the outbuilding, which has a catslide outshut to the left. The south-facing shelter sheds are supported by timber posts on high stone bases, now with timber infill and also used as pigstys. The barn features 19th-century carved stone finials at the gable ends, with an owl hole in the apex. The central porch on the west side has a hipped roof, plank doors, and a timber lintel, with an attached outbuilding range to the left. Inside, the barn has a collar and tie-beam truss roof.
