Description
New Barn is an early 19th-century barn with an attached shelter shed, located in Minchinhampton. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has eight bays, with porches on the north and south sides, and an east-facing shelter shed on the south side. The central gabled porch on the south side has much of its structure and the barn walls obscured by concrete block-built outbuildings, which are not of special interest. There is a small loft casement in the porch and exposed tie-beam ends to the trusses. The north side has a central lean-to porch and square barn vents. The interior includes an eight-bay collar and tie-beam truss roof, which has been partly altered for the insertion of 20th-century grain storage bins. There is a segmental inner archway leading to the north porch. Attached to the right of the porch are 20th-century farm buildings that are not of special interest.
