Description

Sevilles House is a detached house built in the mid to late 17th century, with later enlargements in the mid 18th century and early 19th century. The structure is made of random and coursed rubble limestone, featuring ashlar chimneys and a Welsh slate roof. It is two stories tall, with an attic and a cellar.

The west front shows the oldest part of the house on the right, where there is a doorway with a pointed stone lintel and a hoodmould that steps over to a 3-light mullioned casement to the right. Above, there are two 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements with a combined hoodmould. The roof eaves level has been raised in coursed rubble, and there is a large central raking roof dormer with a timber casement. The later addition to the left features a doorway at the upper floor level and a 2-light window to the right, which has a zig-zag stone head and a hoodmould.

On the east side, the original gable ends are marked by ridge-mounted and two tall eaves-mounted chimneys, some of which have moulded caps. There are two upper floor 2-light casements with hoodmoulds, one of which has Gothic leading. The south gable end includes an off-centre ground floor 12-pane sash window with a keyed moulded architrave and a bull-nosed sill, along with a 2-light cellar casement below. In the attic, there are two casements: one is a recessed chamfered 2-light, while the other is timber with a leaded iron casement and a timber lintel. The north gable end is built against a high-level road and features an attic-level plank door with a timber lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
