Description

Cyprus House is a pair of late 17th-century houses situated on the north side of Chalford High Street. The building was altered in the late 18th century. Constructed of random and coursed rubble limestone with ashlar chimneys and an asbestos slate roof, it originally comprised two houses, possibly two-storeys with gables, but the upper part was remodelled in the late 18th century with the addition of a third storey. The front elevation features chamfered mullioned casement windows of single, two and three-light configurations, some grouped and others with individual hood moulds; previously aligned with the gables. Three two-light casements are present on the upper floor. The house has two doorways; one with a chamfered opening and plank door, the other with a panelled door. A moulded cornice runs along the top of the building, finished with a plain ashlar parapet. Three chimneys are positioned along the ridge of the roof. The rear of the building has blank walls without windows. The interior has not been inspected.
