Description

Ladbarrow Farm features a group of barns, attached shelter sheds, and a stable, with the barns dated 1795 on a stone plaque located between the windows of a two-storey porch. The shelter sheds are of a similar age, with some dating from the mid to late 19th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof for the barns and southern shelter sheds. The shelter sheds at the gable end of the barn have a concrete tile roof, while the stable has a combination of stone slate and red tile roofing.

The barns have a long rectangular plan and include three shelter sheds positioned at right angles on the south side, one of which is from the mid to late 19th century. The north side of the barn features two lean-to porches and a half-hipped two-storey porch. On the south side, there are two gabled projecting porches, one of which is two-storeys high, along with a lean-to porch situated between them.

There are two late 18th-century shelter sheds with bays divided by squared limestone columns topped with square flat-chamfered stone abaci. A mid to late 19th-century shelter shed is located between these two, supported by circular cast iron piers, while the gable end shelter shed is supported by brick piers. The interior has limited inspection access but features collar and tie beam trusses.
