Description

Brightswell Cottage is a semi-detached cottage located in Aldsworth village, dating to the mid-19th century. It originally stood as number 15, and was later renamed. The cottage is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. It has a rectangular plan. A rear extension, added in the 20th century, is not considered to be of special architectural interest. The facade is two-storey and features a three-window arrangement. The first floor has two-light casement windows with gable fronts clad in wany edged weatherboarding. The ground floor features two two-light casement windows, with a continuous concrete lintel above them, alongside a 20th-century plank door with fillets and a single-light pane. The door is located within an open-sided lean-to porch supported by timber uprights. Gable-end and axial stacks are present. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected. The group value of this building rests in its contribution to the character of the village.
