Description
Green Garden Cottages are two semi-detached cottages, now occupied as a single residence, dating from the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a concrete tile roof and 20th-century stone stacks that imitate ashlar. The building has a rectangular plan with a slightly later extension at the left gable end. The two-storey facade features five windows, including the extension, which are lit by 2-light stone-mullioned steel casements with horizontal glazing bars, along with one single light that has a chamfered stone surround. There are three 19th-century plank doors set within segmental-headed surrounds, and gable-end stacks serve the main body of the cottages. Inside, there are two open fireplaces; one has a stone lintel while the other includes an inglenook seat and bressumer. Additionally, there is a niche in the wall to the right of the latter fireplace.
