Description

Rectory Cottages are two semi-detached cottages built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a 20th-century extension. They are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and feature a limestone slate roof with limestone gable end coping, as well as ashlar and 20th-century artificial stone stacks. The original roof has been replaced with concrete tiles. The cottages have a rectangular plan, with the 20th-century extension located at the left gable end.

The buildings are two storeys high, with the upper storey illuminated by four dormers along the eaves. All windows in the main body are two-light metal casements with leaded lights, and there are four windows in total on the main facade. The ground floor windows and doors have segmental heads. A three-light wood mullioned window, which is now blocked, is located in the right gable end.

The doors to the main body include a 19th-century plank door positioned off-centre to the left and a 20th-century part-glazed door on the right. The 20th-century extension has a lower roof and features one window with two-light casements and a single plank door at the lower right. The main body’s roof includes the remains of an ashlar stack at the right gable end, with a 20th-century artificial stone stack nearby, a central single ashlar stack with a moulded cap, and an artificial stone stack at the left gable end. The right gable end has flat coping.
