Description

Porch House is a detached house located on the south side of Main Street in Bourton-on-the-Hill. The main body of the house dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension and a 20th-century porch. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a limestone slate roof that features limestone gable coping and ashlar stacks.

The house has an 'L'-shaped plan, with the 20th-century porch and the 19th-century extension on the right. It stands two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by a 2-light roof dormer with leaded panes. There is a cellar at the rear of the 17th-century main body. The facade includes five windows in total. The main body features three flat-chamfered cross windows on the first floor, while the central part of the facade has two 19th-century canted bays with sash windows, flanking a formerly six-panelled front door that is part-glazed and accessed by three steps. The 20th-century glazed porch is positioned in front of this door.

The extension on the lower right side has two 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, with a canted bay window to the left and a 9-pane fixed casement window on the lower right. The right corner of the extension is cut away. The building is finished with flat gable coping and twin flue gable end stacks that have moulded caps and skirtings. The interior has not been inspected.
