Description

This is a former farmhouse, now a house adjoining a barn, located south of Tallet Cottage. It dates from the mid-to-late 17th century, with a restoration in the 19th century. Constructed of limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins, the house has a flat-chamfered plinth and a thin stone slate roof. Ashlar stacks are present, with one having been repaired in brick. The house is arranged in an "L" shape, and features a curving dry stone wall with an iron railing at the front.

The two-storey main facade has a projecting gable on the left. It originally had a two-window front with two and three-light, flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casement windows, some with stopped hoods. A 20th-century plank door is set within a dressed stone surround, to the right of the projecting gable. A flat stone canopy, supported by moulded stone brackets, shelters the door. There are further two and three-light casement windows, with hollow-moulded mullions and varying hood details, on the return side. One window has been blocked, and a tall, blocked, basket-headed doorway is also found on the return. A plank door, within a 17th-century flat-chamfered basket-headed surround, provides access to the garden at the rear. Gable-end and axial stacks are prominent. The interior has not been inspected. A front wall, ranging in height from 0.7 to 1 metre, is capped with an approximately 30cm high iron railing.
