Description
Macaroni Downs Farmhouse is a former row of two houses that has been converted into a detached farmhouse. It dates from the early 19th century, with additions made in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, featuring rebuilt chimneys made of ashlar and brick, and has a stone slate roof, with concrete tiles and artificial stone at the rear.
The farmhouse is two stories tall with an attic and has a return wing at the west end. The front elevation likely originally had four windows when it was two separate houses, but some of these windows are now blocked. The remaining windows are two-light chamfered mullioned casements with hoodmoulds and small pane glazing. There are two gabled roof dormers, and a chimney on each original gabled end; the left one has been cut down, while the right one is made of brick and features a moulded cap.
To the right side of the front, there is a single-storey section with a four-light casement window. The later 19th-century addition on the left has a single-window three-light mullioned casement and a doorway with a four-panel door, topped by a parapet gabled porch. The west end of the building features segmental arched casement windows.
