Description

This building is a cottage that adjoins the premises occupied by Edwards, a grocer, located on Poulton Cricklade Street. It was likely built in the late 17th century or early 18th century and has been converted from several cottages into one large cottage with a gable end facing the street and a shop in the cottage to the south. The structure is made of rubble stone with flush quoins and features a concrete tile roof and a stone end stack.

The main cottage has two storeys and an attic, with a wing at the back and an adjoining shop that is also two storeys high. The main front faces north and includes a three-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould on both floors to the left, as well as a gabled dormer with a boarded gable and a 20th-century two-light window above. To the right, a former lean-to has been altered to create an additional new three-light stone mullion window on the first floor.

The street facade features a two-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould on the first floor of the rear wing of the main cottage, along with an inserted single light window below. The cottage to the left contains a 20th-century shop front on the ground floor and two small two-light wooden casement windows below the eaves. An additional semi-derelict cottage adjoins on the west side but is not considered of special interest.
