Description
Reservoir Cottage is a detached house located in Winson, dating from the mid to late 17th century, with extensive alterations and additions made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed from random rubble limestone and features rubble chimneys and a stone slate roof, with a concrete tile roof on the rear. It is two stories high and has an L-shaped plan.
On the south end, the gable end of the main range is to the left, featuring a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement on the ground floor, with a 19th-century casement and timber lintel above. There is a small blocked lancet window in the gable apex. To the right, there is a doorway with a timber lintel, a plank door, and a flat stone porch hood. Beyond this is a segmental arched casement on the ground floor, with a smaller casement above. The wing has two ridge-mounted chimneys.
On the west side, there is a small casement with a timber lintel and two eaves-mounted gabled dormers. The masonry shows some evidence of the 19th-century enlargement of what was originally a very small house. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
