Description
The barn at Coln Valley Fish and Game Company Limited is an early 19th-century structure with later 20th-century alterations. It is built from coursed rubble limestone and features a concrete tile roof for the barn and a stone slate roof for the stable. The barn has five bays and porches on the northeast and southwest sides, while the stable extends from the northwest end of the barn, creating an L-shape.
On the northeast side of the barn, there is a gabled porch with a concrete lintel and boarded infill below, along with timber casement windows. The left side has additional casements and boarding in the openings. The southwest porch is a lean-to with a timber lintel and plank doors. Both the barn and stable have parapet gabled ends with slit vents, and the stable's southwest end features a 2-light lancet opening. The northwest side has no openings. There are 20th-century stairs leading to a former loft doorway on the southeast side, which has a half gable, and inserted casements in segmental arched openings. The interiors have not been inspected. Despite the alterations, the barn maintains an important visual presence at the southern end of the village.
