Description
This is a detached barn located approximately 40 meters east of Coln Farm, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a roof made of corrugated asbestos and iron. The barn has a rectangular plan and features a projecting gabled porch on the north side. Part of a larger building that has been partly demolished, it has a section with a corrugated-iron roof that projects forward to the right of the porch. There is a 20th-century artificial stone lean-to to the left of the porch, along with two similar lean-tos at the rear, which are not of special interest. A projecting canopy is present over the double doors in the south wall, and there are triangular ventilation holes in the inside and end walls. A pitching window is located towards the apex of the east gable end, which has flat coping with roll-cross saddles. Inside, the barn features a sunken floor level at the west end with a shoulder height floor. The roof consists of three bays with original collar and tie beam trusses. An inscription, now partly obscured by an electric light switch, can be found within the projecting porch, stating something along the lines of "Work not on the Lord's day."
