Description

Green Cottage and Fields House are two houses located on the south side of Winson The Green. They date from the early to mid-17th century, with a late 18th-century addition. Fields House is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, while Green Cottage features random rubble. Both houses have ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof, with a concrete tile roof on the rear.

Fields House is a two-storey building with an attic, designed in an L-plan. The north front has a single-window arrangement, featuring three-light ovolo moulded mullioned casements with hoodmoulds. There is a doorway to the right with a timber lintel and a plank door. Green Cottage, which is a two-storey addition to the west end, has mixed fenestration. This includes a two-light chamfered mullioned casement on the ground floor and a timber casement on the upper floor, located below the eaves.

On the east end, Fields House has a single window arrangement on the gable end, with all windows being ovolo moulded and featuring hoodmoulds. The ground floor has a three-light window, the upper floor has a two-light window, and there is a single attic light. There are also two blocked cellar single-lights and two small single-light casements in the side of the rear wing to the left. A 20th-century gabled porch addition is present but is not considered of special interest. The building features a paired ridge-mounted chimney with moulded caps and mullioned fenestration on the gable end of the rear wing. The interiors have not been inspected.
