(Formerly listed as La Chaumiere)

GV II
House. C17, maybe earlier origins, late C19 extension, modernised with another extension in 1976. Older part is plastered cob on stone rubble footings; stone rubble or cob stacks topped with C19 and C20 brick; thatch roof, slate to C19 extension.
Plan: the C17 block faces south-west. It appears to have a two or three-room plan with gable-end stacks, the right (south-east) one projecting. The rear wall bulges in the centre as if a there is a stair turret there. C19 one-room plan block projects at right angles to rear of left end and has a gable-end stack. C20 extension projects forward from left end at first floor level with open car port below. Two storeys with C20 conservatory alongside the rear block.
Exterior: rear block includes a probably late C19 six-pane sash with flat stucco architrave and eaves cornice. All the other windows are C20 casements with glazing bars. The front of the main block has a roughly central doorway which contains a C20 panelled door behind a contemporary gabled porch. The main block roof is gable-ended.
Interior: was not available for inspection at the time of this survey but the main house is said to include original carpentry detail including a jointed cruck truss roof.
The Green contains an attractive group of small thatch-roofed houses.
