Description
Hayes Bank is a cottage that may date from the 18th century but is probably from the 19th century. It was renovated around 1970. The building is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with a stone rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick, and features a thatched roof. The cottage has a two-room plan and faces north, situated alongside the street. The right (western) room has a projecting gable-end stack, and the entrance is located at the left (west) end. It is two storeys high. The exterior has an irregular two-window front with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. The doorway at the left end contains a 20th-century door. The roof is half-hipped to the left and hipped to the right. The interior largely reflects the modernisation from around 1970, with no exposed carpentry, and the roof has not been inspected.
