Description

These are a pair of cottages, likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, situated on The Green. They were originally built facing away from the lane, with two rooms each. The walls are plastered cob construction on stone rubble footings. The stacks are of stone rubble or brick, with 19th and 20th-century brick tops, and the roof is thatched. The cottages have gable-end stacks and a central axial stack shared between them. Number 1 Jessamine Cottage is on the right. The cottages are two storeys high and have secondary rear extensions. The front has a slightly asymmetrical appearance due to the placement of 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. A 20th-century panelled door is set behind a contemporary gabled porch in a central location. The eaves are uneven and the roof is gable-ended. The interiors have not been inspected. The Green contains a collection of small thatched houses that contribute to a pleasing streetscape.
