Description
The Old Manse is a house built around 1850, constructed from plastered stone rubble or brick, with brick stacks and chimney shafts, and a slate roof. The house faces The Square to the south and features a double depth plan with a service passage at the right east end. Inside, there are front and back rooms on either side of the central entrance and main stair, with an axial stack on the right and a gable-end stack on the left.
The exterior has a four-window front, showcasing original 16-pane sash windows, along with one possibly secondary window. There is a 20th-century casement window with glazing bars at the ground floor left end. The main three-window section is symmetrical around the front doorway, which features a four-panel door with an over light and a flat-roofed porch supported by panelled posts and a moulded entablature that includes a modillion cornice. The main roof has deep eaves on shaped brackets and is gable-ended. The interior has not been inspected, but it is believed to retain original joinery and other details.
