Description

Manor Farm House is a detached house located on Winson Ditch Lane, with parts likely dating from the early 17th century and a later addition from the late 17th century, specifically dated 'BTM 1729' for Thomas Matthews. The building is constructed of random and coursed rubble limestone, featuring ashlar and brick-rebuilt chimneys, and has a stone slate roof.

The house has a two-storey cross-wing at the south end, alongside a two-storey with attic 18th-century addition. There is a single-storey link at the south end that connects to the earliest part of the house, which was altered into outbuildings in the early 19th century.

The front of the house features a gable end of the cross-wing that projects forward, displaying single-window fenestration. The ground floor has a small-pane casement with a timber lintel, while above it is a 3-light chamfered mullioned casement. The 18th-century addition to the right is taller and includes a single 12-pane sash window on the ground floor, with a doorway featuring a 6-panel door and an open timber porch to the right, both of which are early 19th-century alterations. The original two cross windows are located on the upper floor, and there is a single gabled roof dormer along with two ridge-mounted chimneys.

To the left, the single-storey link connects the house to an outbuilding range that has casement fenestration and timber lintels, with a hipped roof in the northeast corner. At the rear, the gable end of the cross-wing is built into a bank, featuring a 2-light upper floor mullioned casement and timber casements below and to the left. The forecourt wall slopes down from a high boundary at the north end.
