Description
Garden Cottage is a detached house dating from the late 17th century, with extensive restorations carried out in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone and features ashlar chimneys, with roofs made of stone slate and concrete tiles. The building is two storeys high and has a rear wing at the west end, along with a 20th-century addition in the angle.
The south front of the cottage has a two-window arrangement, with three-light recessed cavetto mullioned casements on the ground floor and two-light casements in the eaves-mounted parapet gable roof dormers, all of which have hoodmoulds. The central doorway is framed by a projecting porch that has a moulded hood and a coped top, leading to a 20th-century panelled door. The main range features parapet gabled ends with gable-mounted chimneys that have moulded caps. At the rear, there is a west-facing half gable on the rear wing, which includes a single-window iron casement. The building has two chimneys with moulded caps. The interior has not been inspected.
