Description

34 The Square is a house, originally two dwellings, dating from 1769. It stands on the east side of the square in Bibury. The south section of the building is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, while the north section is of random rubble, with an ashlar chimney and a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and incorporates two rear wings.

The front elevation features two half-gabled sections. The left part has a two-window appearance, with three-light chamfered mullioned casement windows on the ground floor and two-light casements above. A central doorway has a chamfered opening and a plank door, with a carved datestone positioned above. The right part has a further half gable with a two-light chamfered mullioned casement and a flat hoodmould. Below, there are two three-light casement windows under a continuous hoodmould. A large central chimney is positioned on the ridge at the junction between the two parts of the building.

The south end has a parapet gabled end with a blocked doorway and a two-light casement to the left. A central upper-floor casement is located under a continuous hoodmould. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
