Description

BIBURY THE SQUARE SP 1006-1106 (south side) 11/122 No 30 23.1.52 GV II Detached house. Mid-late C17. Random and coursed rubble limestone; rubble chimney; stone slate roof. Two-storey; 2 rear wings. Front: 3 gables, 3-window fenestration, all ovolo mullioned casements with hoodmoulds; 3-light to ground floor, 2- light in upper floor gables. Off centre doorway with timber lintel and 4-panel door. Single restored ridge-mounted chimney with plain cap. East end: gable end with upper floor iron casement and timber lintel. Single-storey outbuilding has timber casements on west side. West end: blank gable end to main range. Blocked doorway with timber lintel to wing. Rear: mixed mullioned fenestration including upper floor 2-light ovolo mullioned casement in half gable. Gable-mounted restored rubble chimney to west rear wing. Interior not inspected. (Partially illustrated in W.G. Davie and E.G. Dawber, Old Cottages ... in the Cotswold District, 1905)
