Description

19, The Square is a detached house in Bibury, originally two houses dating to the mid-to-late 17th century, with alterations and an addition made in the mid-19th century. The construction is of random and coursed rubble limestone, with ashlar and blue brick rebuilt chimneys and a stone slate roof.

The house is single-storey with an attic and has a rear wing to the west. The west gable facing the road features a recessed, chamfered mullioned window with a 3-light opening on the ground floor and a 2-light opening in the attic, both with hoodmoulds. There is an indication of a former 2-light casement window in the rear wing, which is now blocked. The north side shows 19th-century altered openings with stone lintels, including three casement windows to the left of a doorway with a 4-panel door. Two chimneys are located on the ridge. The rear of the house features an attic casement window with a timber lintel in the gabled rear wing, and a lateral chimney stack on the east side of the wing. The interior was not inspected.
