Description
Middle Norton Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse constructed of Flemish bond brick on a limestone plinth. It features a limestone slate roof with coped gable ends and a roll cross saddle on the right side. A projecting, stepped brick stack is located on the left wall, topped with limestone coping on the steps. There are also brick stacks on the right walls of two successive extensions to the right of the main body. The main structure extends back at the rear left and includes two service extensions to the right.
The main body of the farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by two gabled dormers at the eaves. Both dormers have two-light windows; the left dormer retains its original leaded panes, while the right dormer features 20th-century leaded lights. All three windows in the dormers are flat chamfered, stone mullioned, and have 20th-century metal casements with glazing bars. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set in a flat chamfered surround. The right extension has 20th-century, three-light, flat chamfered stone mullioned windows with 20th-century casements. Both extensions to the right are single storey and step down in height successively.
