Description

Mickleton Wood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick on an ashlar limestone plinth, featuring rusticated limestone quoins and a limestone eaves cornice. The building has extensions on both the left and right sides, which are made of English garden wall bond brick. Some original rainwater heads are still present. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a parapet with flat coping. There are single brick end stacks topped with moulded limestone. The main block has been extended at the back on both sides to create a 'U' shape, with additional extensions that are likely slightly later than the main structure, set back to the left.

The main block is 2½ storeys high and features a symmetrical arrangement of windows with a 1:1:1 pattern. The central bay projects slightly from the facade and is topped with an open triangular pediment. The upper storey has 8-pane sash windows, while the other windows are 16-pane sashes. All the sashes are adorned with rusticated limestone lintels that include keystones. The central entrance consists of double doors, which are accessed by two steps, and feature fielded panels with a 4-paned light above. The door is framed by a plain ashlar surround with a flat projecting stone hood supported by brackets that have simple line decoration.
