Description
Upper Southwick Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse with early 19th-century additions. It is constructed of local Flemish bond brickwork, with a triple Roman tile roof in two sections; the roof on the left side has coped verges, and there are two brick stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with an attic to the left half. The left side has two and three-light casement windows, each with a single horizontal glazing bar. The right side has 16-pane sash windows, with the ground floor window set flush and brick voussoirs above each window. The virtually central door opening features a six-panelled door, with the top two panels glazed. A flat wooden hood is supported by two brackets above the door. Single-story outshuts flank the front of the building. The outshut to the left is built of brick with a pantile roof, while the outshut to the right is of coursed and squared rubble with a double Roman tile roof. Each outshut has a casement window with glazing bars, and one has double plank doors, the other a stable-type plank door.
