Description
Southwick House is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building features Flemish bond local brickwork with blue headers arranged in diamond patterns on the first floor, while the ground floor is finished in pebbledash. There is a plain stone band at the first floor level and a roof covered with triple-roman tiles, complete with coped verges and end brick stacks.
The house is two storeys high and has five bays, with 2-light casements that include glazing bars. The first-floor windows are adorned with alternating red and blue brick voussoirs. The central door opening contains a six-panelled door topped by a stone slab hood supported on brackets.
Inside, there is a mid 18th-century staircase that has some early 19th-century alterations. The ground and first floors feature early 19th-century and mid 18th-century doors, respectively. Additionally, there are two 18th-century niche cupboards with shell heads located in the rear ground floor room, and window shutters are present in the front ground floor rooms.
