Description
Elgin House is a large corner house built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from rubble stone with quoins and features a hipped Cotswold stone slate roof, which slopes to the right. The house has one rendered ridge stack and one lateral stone stack to the right. The front range includes a large gable at the rear and rises three storeys high.
The façade has three windows on the first floor, which are 19th-century four-pane sashes with concrete lintels. There are three smaller similar sashes on the second floor. On the ground floor, there is a four-pane sash window to the right and a single plate glass window to the left. The central entrance features a doorcase with a large flat stone mullioned door hood, which is supported by large, finely decorated stone brackets. The door itself has two glazed panels at the top and a single horizontal moulded panel below.
