Description
Numbers 19 and 21 are a pair of semi-detached villas dating from around 1840. They are constructed of stucco over brick, with concealed roof and a brick party-wall stack. The villas have a basement, two storeys and six windows to the first floor. The exterior detailing includes horizontal rustication to the ground floor, with voussoirs over the windows; a tooled first-floor band; tooled architraves to the first-floor windows; a crowning frieze; a dentil cornice on the right and a reduced cornice on the left; a low parapet and a blocking course with copings. The windows are predominantly 1/1 and 2/2 sashes, with some margin lights, and are taller on the ground floor. Some first-floor windows on the right have blind boxes. The basement windows have 3/6 sashes. There are entrances at each end, with steps leading to six-panel doors with overlights and sidelights. The interior has not been inspected. The villas have continuous ornate balconies at ground-floor level, and a verandah to the right with scrolled uprights and a tent roof. Ornate railings are present to the sides of the steps, featuring a wreathed handrail.
