Description
Sandford House is a villa dating to around 1840. It is constructed with a brick core rendered over, featuring a hipped slate roof, brick stacks at the ends, and an iron porch and railings. The exterior has five first-floor windows arranged in a 2:3 pattern, with a full-height canted bay to the right. Stucco detailing includes quoins to the corners and bay, a band at first-floor level and tooled architraves to the first-floor windows on the right. The windows are 1/1 sashes in plain reveals with sills; some first-floor windows have blind boxes. Basement windows are also 1/1 sashes. A flight of roll-edged steps leads to a six-panel entrance door with a fanlight containing radial glazing bars. Wide eaves incorporate decorative barge-boards. The interior was not inspected. The porch features anthemion and scroll motifs on its uprights and frieze. Railings alongside the steps are ornate.
