Description
A pair of houses dating to circa 1818, located on Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham. The houses are built of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and a gault brick party-wall stack featuring a cornice. They have a 1:4:1 window arrangement on the first floor and taller, recessed service ranges to the sides. The ground-floor porches project slightly, while the outer first-floor windows are set back. A continuous moulded band runs along the first floor. The ground floor has 1/1 sash windows, and the first floor has 6/6 sashes, all within plain reveals and sills, with blind boxes throughout. Stepped flights of stone lead to the outer entrances, which feature 6-panel doors – the left-hand door is partly glazed, with an overlight above it, and the right-hand door has a fluted frieze and fanlight. Wide eaves are present. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Attached to either side are short coped walls flanked by pairs of piers, each with a plinth, plain shaft, frieze, and peaked cap. Modern plank gates are set between the piers and are not included in the listing.
