Description
A pair of semi-detached houses built around 1830, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are constructed of stuccoed brick with slate roofs, featuring shaped and coped end-gables and a central stack on the party wall. They are arranged as a double-depth block with recessed wings offset to each side, and entrance porches situated in the re-entrant angles.
The main part of the front elevation has a symmetrical design, incorporating an offset plinth, horizontal rustication to the ground floor, a raised band at first-floor level, a crowning cornice with a frieze band, and a parapet. The ground floor features casements with two lights and 4x5 panes of glazing bars, set within openings with moulded architraves. The first floor has sashes with 4x4 panes of glazing bars; the heads of the windows to number 3 are flanked by moulded consoles supporting hood boards. The recessed wing to the side of number 3 has a 20th-century timber porch with lattice upper panels, a semicircular fanlight above the doorway, and a sash window with glazing bars on the first floor. The recessed wing to the side of number 4 has an open porch with decorative wrought-iron standards, a metal canopy, and a sash window with 3x4 panes of glazing bars on the first floor. The interior was not inspected.
