Description

A pair of houses, numbers 5 and 6 Beaufort Buildings, were built in 1818 as part of the Beaufort Buildings terrace for the Gloucester Spa Company. The houses are stucco-faced over brick and have slate roofs, with a brick stack on the party wall between them. They have a basement and three storeys. The front is symmetrical, with five bays in total. A raised band runs around the building at first-floor sill level, and the original crowning cornice has been replaced with a plain, coped parapet. Each house has a porch at each end, accessed by stone steps and topped with a metal, tented canopy roof supported by decorative wrought-iron panels. The doorways each have a semicircular arched fanlight and a six-panel door with glazed upper panels. The first floor has five sash windows, and the second floor has three shorter sash windows, all with 3x4 panes of glazing bars and projecting stone sills. The sashes in the central bay are set in false openings aligned with the party wall. The interior has not been inspected.
