Description

The pair of semi-detached houses at 80 and 82 Kingsholm Road date from around 1820. They were altered in the mid to late 20th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stucco detailing, and have gable-end slate roofs. A tall brick stack rises from the party wall between them. Originally, the houses had recessed side entrances, but these have been replaced in the 20th century by a small lobby and garage wing on the side of number 80, and a wing added to the side of number 82. The main block of each house is three storeys high, with single-storey side wings added later. The front elevations have a string course at first-floor level and a coped parapet. The ground and first floors each have four tall sash windows with 3x4 panes of glazing bars. The second floor of each house has four sash windows with 3x3 panes, all set within openings featuring flat, arched heads composed of five raised and stepped voussoirs, and with projecting stone sills; the first-floor sashes are protected by decorative wrought-iron window guards. Number 82 has a small 20th-century window inserted on its north side at ground floor level. The interiors were not inspected at the time of listing.
