Description
6 and 7 Rainbow Hill Terrace are a pair of houses built around 1830 to 1850, with some later additions and alterations. They are constructed of painted stucco over brick and feature a slate roof, with brick party wall stacks on both the front and rear slopes, the front stack being taller. Wrought-iron railings are present at the entrance steps of the left house.
The houses are two storeys high and have a double-depth plan with a central entrance hall. The exterior includes four first-floor windows arranged in a 2:2 pattern. Stucco detailing features a plinth, pilasters at the ends of each house, and plain eaves bands linking the entrances. Each entrance has a moulded architrave, and all windows are 8/8 sashes set in plain reveals with sills. There are blind windows above each entrance on the first floor. The doors are five-panel designs, with the upper two panels and the center panel raised and fielded, featuring bolection moulding, while the bottom pair is flush with triple-beading. Each entrance is topped with a Gothic traceried fanlight. The left entrance has five steps flanked by simple railings with square balusters, while the right entrance has four steps and renewed railings.
Inside, the houses retain original features, including panelled doors and architraves. Historically, numbers 1 to 10 Rainbow Hill Terrace form a significant group of listed buildings that compare well with other developments from the same period in Worcester, such as Britannia Square, Lansdowne Crescent, and Lark Hill.
