Description

Nos 123 and 125 are a pair of terraced dwellings located on the south side of High Street in Chard, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of stucco with a pantile roof and brick stacks at the gable ends. They feature a double-depth plan with two adjacent stairhalls and are two storeys tall, presenting a symmetrical two-window range. The central entrance consists of paired six-panel doors with a blind window above, flanked by early 19th-century three/six-pane sash windows on both floors, which have forward frames. To the right of the gutter, there is an early 19th-century lead hopperhead.

The subsidiary features include mid-19th-century railings with cast-iron heads along the street front, set on a brick plinth. There is a working gate with long and short railings, topped with urn finials on the supports. Additionally, there is a rubblestone wall between the railings and the house to the right, and a rubblestone wall with stone coping belonging to Stringfellow House to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
