Description

Snowdon Villa is a house located at No. 42 High Street in Chard, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations made around 1870. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a 19th-century stucco front. It has a slate roof with brick stacks and stepped copings on the gable ends, along with mid-19th-century square cream-colored chimneypots. The pilasters and platband are currently painted. The house has a double-depth central stairhall plan and is two storeys tall with a three-window range. The main entrance consists of a mid-20th-century door beneath a late 18th-century fanlight, set in a plain raised round-headed opening. Above the door is a late 19th-century plate-glass sash window, along with late 19th-century two-storey bays that feature moulded cornices. The interior has not been inspected but is included in the listing for its group value.
