Description
Thornbury House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of High Street in Chard. It features roughcast walls set on a painted rubblestone plinth, with a painted stone doorcase and sills. The house has a gabled slate roof with a stone ridge and a brick stack at the right end. It has a double-depth plan with a central stair hall and is two storeys tall, presenting a symmetrical three-window facade. There are three steps leading up to a six-pane door that has an overlight above it. The doorcase is adorned with panelled pilasters and reveals, topped with a cornice. The windows are six-over-six pane sashes set within square-headed architraves. The interior has not been inspected.
