Description

A terrace of four houses, now three, dating from around 1820 in Chard. The buildings are stucco-faced with a slate roof and brick stacks. They were originally designed with a double-depth plan. The terrace is two storeys high and has a four-window facade. All the doors and windows are set within raised surrounds. With the exception of number 95, the windows are 6/6-pane sash windows, and the doors are six-panel doors with glazed upper panels. Number 95 has a late 19th-century canted bay window with a horned 1/1-pane sash window on the ground floor, and a fixed light with vent above from around 1980. The door of the right-hand house has been repositioned on its return. The two central houses share a common entrance. The interior remains unexamined. The terrace includes iron spearhead railings with urn finials, set on a plinth of Ham Hill stone. These railings are included in the listing for their contribution to the group value of the terrace.
