Description

A pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century, located on Market Street in Hatherleigh. The houses were likely built on rubble walls with joint lining, and have gabled slate roofs. Brick stacks are present at each gable end and at the rear. Number 45 has a two-room plan with a central entrance, while Number 47 has a single-room plan, both likely double in depth. The front of Number 45 presents a symmetrical facade with three late-19th-century windows featuring four panes to each sash. The central entrance has an original fielded six-panel door, sheltered by a flat hood supported on decorative wrought iron brackets. Number 47 has a four-pane sash window above a 20th-century two-light metal-framed casement. A late-19th-century four-panel door is located to the left. Both houses feature overhanging eaves supported by a modillion cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
