Description

A near pair of houses dating from the early to mid-19th century, located in Falmouth. The houses are built with incised stucco over a probable rubble core, and have a plinth string. They feature a dry slate hipped roof with projecting eaves, a central brick stack, and another at the rear left. The building follows a double-depth plan and presents a six-window range to the road. Number 1 has a regular three-window range to its garden front with no front door, while Number 2 has a symmetrical three-window entrance front with a central doorway. Number 1 mirrors the entrance front of the left-hand return. The facades feature incised pilasters and moulded hoods on brackets over the ground-floor windows. Original 12-pane hornless sash windows are present throughout. The houses retain original glazed porches with brackets under projecting eaves, and pairs of glazed doors and sidelights. Number 1 has a three-pane overlight above its door, while Number 2 has a full-width patterned overlight to its narrower porch. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
