Description

A pair of semi-detached houses dating from the mid-19th century, located on the south side of Long Street in Cerne Abbas. The houses are built of stone walls, which have been stuccoed and painted white, with slate roofs and gable ends. They have renewed 19th-century brick stacks on the left-hand gable, the centre of the ridge, and the right-hand gable. The houses are two storeys and have attics. Each house originally had four windows, which are sashes with 16-pane glazing bars and stone sills. Number 2 has an additional bay on the right-hand side, constructed of matching materials, with a single renewed sash window on the ground floor. Number 2 also has a 20th-century dormer with a flat roof. The front doors are centrally positioned; Number 2 has a round-headed surround, a fielded panel door, and two top lights. Number 4 has a flush and recessed panel door with two top lights, set within a 19th-century door surround.
