Description

A shop and attached house dating from the early 19th century, located on Duck Street in Cerne Abbas. The building has stone walls that have been rendered and painted pink, covered by a slate roof with a curved corner, and a brick stack on the ridge. It is two storeys high and has four windows in total.

The shop front features two large windows with 35 panes of glazing, arranged in a 7x5 pattern, flanked by fluted pilasters and capitals symmetrically either side of the door, and with a renewed section on the left. A moulded entablature sits above. The central door has 12 panes with a solid bottom panel. A balcony extends over the shop front, supported by wooden brackets and featuring an ironwork rail. A 20th-century metal casement window is located on the first floor. A large iron bracket, possibly for a former inn sign, remains in place. The remaining three windows are sash windows with 12 panes of glazing and stone sills. The central door is flush-panelled with two top lights, a 20th-century addition, and has a fanlight above. A reeded pilaster marks the division between numbers 2 and 4.
