Description

The Terrell monument and railings, located in the churchyard about 4 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St Peter, is an early 19th-century chest tomb made of limestone, accompanied by cast iron railings. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded plinth. On the north and south sides, there are moulded Tudor arched panels, with an inscription on the south side. The east and west sides have similar narrower arched panels, and pilasters with cusped recessed panels. This monument commemorates Elizabeth Terrell and other family members, with the earliest decipherable date being 1856. The railings include a base plate with pierced circles, rails adorned with knobs and round arches, and urn finials. At the time of the survey in May 1985, the monument and railings were noted to be in poor condition.
