Description

The Vigars and Bickell monuments are two headstones located in the churchyard about 3 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St Peter in Lamerton. These headstones date from the 18th century and are made of slate. The headstone for Sarah Bickell, dated 1774, features a nowy head with a carved vase and stylised flowers, along with a valedictory quatrain. The headstone for Patience Vigars, dated 1740, also has a nowy head and includes a skull, heart, hourglass, vase, and stylised flowers, accompanied by valedictory verses. Both headstones display good lettering.
