Description
18 and 20 Castle Street are early to mid 19th century buildings located on the east side of Castle Street. Number 18 is part of an adjoining two-storey block, featuring roughcast exterior and one sash window on each floor, with only central glazing bars. The entrance door has four flush panels and a fanlight above. Number 20 is also two storeys tall and has three windows, with a roughcast finish. Its doorway is set in a wide recess and includes two round-headed side-lights, framed in a wooden case with Tuscan pilasters and an entablature. The door is a six-panel design with sunk upper panels, and the windows are sash with glazing bars. These buildings, along with Nos 2 to 8 (even), Castle House, and Nos 5 to 13 (odd) and 21 to 25 (odd) on the west side, form a cohesive group.
