Description

5 and 7 Castle Street is a likely 17th-century two-storey cottage block that has been altered over time. The walls are roughcast, and the building was originally thatched, but now features a roof that is partly slate and partly sheeting. On the ground floor, there is one 19th-century sash window on the left, while the other windows are casements, mostly with glazing bars. The windows of No. 7 have been renewed and enlarged, along with its door. The doorways have plain reveals, and there is an old stone chimney at the north end. One of the doors is a five-panel design with sunk upper panels. Nos 5 to 15 (odd) and Nos 21 to 25 (odd), along with Nos 2 to 8 (even), Nos 18, 20, and Castle House on the east side, form a group.
